FHSOP conducts training for all branches of the US Military. The base contains a fuel facility, warehouse, munitions depot, hospital and heavy equipment repair/maintenance facility. Base Headquarters is next to a helicopter landing site and across from Memorial Park. A gas station is available for minor repair of vehicles. A golf course and basketball court provides recreational activities for persons attending training exercises. Mountain training exercises are conducted in areas east of the base.
Due the security and classification of the training facility rail cars are moved to the base by military engines and crew. No outside equipment or non authorized personnel are allowed into the area. Military Police (MP’s) provide security at the rail entrance to the base.
