Snohomish, population 600. The railroad serves a feed store, Mel’s general merchandising, coal facility and a Laser’s cattle feed/loading area. The main street includes the volunteer fire department, Laser’s general store, MIO MOW yard, Christ’s Church, and passenger/freight station. The town extends north, into the mountains. Snowplows (rotary and flanged) are ready since this area receives heavy snowfall. Unfortunately, there was a recent derailment east of town and bridge repair work is underway. Trains must continue on a “slow order” across the bridge.
