In town there is a monument to General Roger Huntington, a civil war hero, who led union troops at the battle of Vicksburg. Rad had a great-great grandfather, a Union Soldier who died at Vicksburg. Returning from the war General Huntington was instrumental in developing Auburn into a prospering town. A park is named after him. An “Oktober Fest” is taking place in the park and the local band is playing in the gazebo. Auburn has a small passenger/freight station with the ever popular Dairy Queen across the street.
